We are go for takeoff

January 24, 2009

The Bangkok-itis appears to have sorted itself out, which means I am ok to start injecting tomorrow. I called the hospital and they want me to be in there at 10.30 for a run through.

During the orientation for the “green protocol” as they call it (green because I am a newb?) they showed me the device I have to use. It’s not like a syringe that you draw up medication and inject, but more like an epi-pen that little kids with allergies use. I had to learn how to give myself an intramuscular adrenaline injection as a child, because I am allergic to bee stings, but the nurses assured me this is nothing like that.

I used to be so needle phobic, and worked myself up massively over blood tests, but they are so routine now, I don’t even blink. I still faint though, if I’m not lying down. Fun times for the pathology collectors.
